With Memorial Day being the kick off to Summer, I’m ready to embrace warmer days and longer nights. Summer is my favorite season for so many reasons but one of them being that traveling and vacationing seems a lot easier.
I’ve got most of my summer planned so I thought it’d be fun to list out my summer travel bucket list. Some trips are already planned and others are still in the works but I hope to check off most of these places before winter rolls around again!
- Asheville, North Carolina
My friend Christina, who you may remember from my post about Greece, lives in Asheville now and I can’t wait to go visit her. Not only does Asheville seem beautiful but I’ve heard that there are so many fun activities from the hiking to the Biltmore. Although I’m a beach girl at heart, I do love spending time in the mountains every once in a while. 🙂
- Bali, Indonesia
This one may seem random in this list but it’s the one I’m most excited about! I was attempting to plan a big Europe trip this summer and after that trip fell through, our friend group was still wanting to do a bigger vacation. Bali seemed to pop up out of nowhere! After doing some research, it’s a lot less expensive and difficult to get over there than I thought so it looks like we’ll be heading there in late summer, early fall. I couldn’t be more excited! Besides exploring the jungles and waterfalls, I learned to surf this year so I’m hoping to work on improving my skills in Bali! It’s been so much fun researching what to do and so far I’ve been pulling trip inspiration from Lauren Conrad’s blog, McKenna Bleu, Life of Brit, and This Life is Belle.
- Pittsburg, Pennsylvania
Another good friend of mine moved to Pittsburgh a couple months ago and she says there is a lot more to do in the city than people realize. It’s about a 5 hour drive from where I live in Indiana and I love a good, summer road trip!
- New Buffalo, Michigan
If you’ve never experienced the magic and beauty of Lake Michigan in the summer, plan a trip now! Michigan is a quick drive from my hometown and I feel like it’s a hidden gem that people in the Midwest know about. I’ve spent time on the shores of Lake Michigan every summer. Growing up, my family used to go to Warren Dunes to go camping, play on the sand dunes, and swim in the chilly lake waters, but it’s only been in recent years that I realized there are some charming lake towns that come alive in the summer. New Buffalo is one of them and I’m hoping to get up there at least once this summer!
- Austin, Texas
I might push this one later into the fall because I don’t know if I can handle the summer, Texas heat but once again, I’m using an opportunity to visit a friend and see the city of Austin. I went once in high school but I’m sure it’s changed since then and I’d love to experience the city as an adult!
- Asheville, North Carolina
Where do you plan on visiting this summer? If you’ve been to any of these places, let me know in the comments and tell me what I must see & do!
