Changing your hair cut or color is a simple way to completely freshen up your style. Take it from someone who has gone from long, dark brown hair to a pixie cut to a blonde bob. Switching up your hairstyle can be both fun and liberating! There are so many ways you can change your hair. Here are a few I’ve tried in the past couple of years.
If you aren’t ready to chop off your hair but you’re still itching for a change, this is a great option. You can keep your bangs trimmed and straight across the forehead or after a few weeks brush them to the side. You can even let bangs grow for some long face framing layers.
Long and Strong
Let it grow! Whether your hair is naturally curly, wavy, or straight – every color and texture looks lovely long. It takes some patience to grow your hair out and be sure to get a trim every now and then but it’s the perfect style for someone who likes to pull it back or braid it. It’s a great way to keep it simple and natural. Or if you’re hair doesn’t grow that quickly, you can be like Laura and try clip-in extensions!
Chop It & Donate It
It can be scary to go for a pixie cut if you’ve always had long hair. For me it was a such a liberating and worth while experience. I donated mine to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths which partners with American Cancer Society to create wigs for cancer patients. You don’t even have to go as short as a pixie cut to donate; as long as you have 8 inches you can send it on in! Check it out here.
Try a New Color
Dying your hair is the perfect option if you are looking for a chance but want to keep your length and style the same. The best thing about color is that you can always change it back if you don’t love it. Just make sure you find a great stylist who uses products that will help keep your hair healthy! From blonde to purple there is a wide array of hair color choices out there. If you are going from dark to light it can be an expensive and lengthy process because it requires a ton of upkeep, but for me it was worth it to give it a try for the summer!
Hair is just another fun way to express yourself and to feel your best. So take the plunge and try something new!
**This guest post is written by one of my very best friends, Christina Warrington. Christina and I met when we were two in the church nursery but now she lives in North Carolina with her husband and two adorable kids. You might remember her from my trip to Greece! We’ve been friends for over 25 years and have been through lots of hairstyles together. 🙂 I’m so honored to have her contribute to my blog! Hope you love her as much as I do.
