2019 Word of the Year: Invest

2019 Word of the Year

I finally had a chance to think about the new year and plan ahead for 2019. Instead of listing out a bunch of resolutions, I’ve been inspired by friends to choose a word that I want to focus on in the new year.

Looking back on the past couple of years, I realized that I’ve let life and circumstances dictate my story. If I try to pick a word that describes 2017, it would have been survive and in 2018, it would have been recover.

This year I want to be intentional about what my year will look like which is why I’ve chosen “invest” to define my 2019.

2019 Word of the Year

I have a tendency to not get too attached and not commit because I want to be ready for any opportunity. However, by not truly investing in anything I think I have missed opportunities to be more deeply connected.

So throughout this year, I want to invest in deep relationship, long-term opportunities, plans for the future, and my mental, physical, & spiritual health.

Hopefully by this time next year, I’ll be able to look back and see how “invest” positively impacted my 2019.

  1. I can totally relate to your chosen words for 2017 and 2018. However, I’m living for your word for 2019. Very inspiring! Happy New Year!
